Lack Of Continuity, 2024

Rusty nails hold together a structure made of metal struts that floats above the floor. Every gust of air released by passing visitors moves the sculpture attached to the ceiling. The structure is made of assembled window frames from an abandoned building. When the building was renovated, it was decided to dispose of the rusty material.
Who or what stabilised the material? What has it seen?
The tired material tells us something about the decades of its stabilising function. For our man - made environment, we process raw material into useful elements that wear out under the load they carry. But the inevitable loss of the material's function means that the stories of these efforts fade into the background.
What traces can we see in the metal?
The frames also tell us something about  the labour - intensive production and processing of the metal, in which workers were involved. The material is now artistically revived with a new function and reminiscent of the human efforts that are inscribed  in it. The seemingly arbitrary arrangement of the frames creates a face therefore, challenging the anonymity of the workers.
